PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Service Technical Writer at NxStageis responsible for authoring and updating technical service manuals for thefield technicians. This position requires a talent for translating complextechnical hardware concepts into user-friendly documents that meet the needs ofthe audience. Some mechanical aptitude or previous experience with maintainingor servicing hardware would be very beneficial in this position. The prospectivecandidate must be an excellent communicator who enjoys working in a highlydynamic writing team and is comfortable collaborating with the Service Engineeringteam.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

?Creating,editing, and maintaining Service documentation

?Collaboratingwith other writers to ensure continuous improvements in writing style,harmonization of terminology, and team initiatives

?Participatingin ongoing team workshops to create and improve writing strategies, layoutpractices

?Investigatingnew and innovative ideas to create content

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

5 yearsor less experience writing instructions, preferably in hardware

Experienceduser of FrameMaker or inDesign

Familiaritywith Solidworks a plus

TechnicalWriting certificate or completion of 4-year English/writing degree

Backgroundin servicing or maintaining machines or lab equipment a plus

Enjoysinteracting with complex machines

Strongcommunication skills and willingness to be a supporting member of across-functional team

Able tomultitask in a highly innovative environment with changing priorities

Able tosolicit feedback from reviewers and negotiate changes to achieve team consensus

Goodtime-management skills to produce large technical manuals

Engagedteam player who supports ongoing internal team initiatives

Strongattention to detail

Sense ofinitiative; intellectual curiosity about technical products and systems
