PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Fresenius Medical Care has invested recently in the design and population of our next generation medical data warehouse -and collateral capabilities. New data domains and business lines will continue to be added for years to come. As it exists right now, its depth and breadth is unsurpassed for this patient population. Our epidemiologists, data scientists, analysts, predictive modelers and operations specialists analyze and study this data to improve both patient outcomes and business outcomes. Simply stated, this exciting new position is mandated to help these skilled medical information specialists get the maximum value from this new information resource.

This role is our BI/DW User Advocate position. It sometimes has been called BI/DW Evangelist, User Ombudsman or Adoption Specialist in other industries. This person will be the face of our new data warehouse to our user community. To achieve the mission, no methods are off limits. It is likely this highly-visible position will assist users by educating, communicating, querying, documenting, profiling and advocating. Close user interaction is the hallmark of this role. The role will help users understand the content of the DW, the location of the data, how its integrated across patient encounters, how to query it and where any gaps may be.

DATA MANAGEMENT FOCUS:

Required:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in applying data management principles and industry standards to design, build and maintain complex data model assets in Transactional/Operational, ODS, Data Warehouse and Data Marts applications
  • 10+ years of SQL query authorship to answer business questions
  • Hands on experience with large data environments millions and billions of rows
  • Familiar with Exadata, building new DW in cloudeg..Amazon Web Services or MS Azure Cloud product
  • Preferred:
  • Hands on analytics/reporting/design of medical data.
  • Work for a medical provider.
  • Data mining or other advanced analytics experiences
  • Experiences with Big Data and data lake
  • PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Uses a variety of information gathering techniques (e.g., interviews, facilitation, diagrams) to gather complex business data requirements from Business teams; Conduct requirements gathering and design sessions with stakeholders with data suppliers to understand incoming data and relationships
  • Performedin-depth business analysisto determine data requirements and understood the data flow within the organization.
  • Mapping/modeling of current physical transactional database designs and logical data flows in preparation for build of new transactional database and data warehouse
  • Developed logical and physical data models for enterprise data warehouse and transactional applications
  • Define standards for naming, describing, governing, managing, modeling, cleansing, enriching, transforming, moving, storing, searching and delivering all data within the company data ecosystems
  • Serve as the liaison between data consumer representatives and data solution development, integration and governance team
  • Work with business and engineering teams to apply data security policies
  • Provide Source to Target Mappings from data models to provide basis for data integration specifications
  • Design time variant models that support both point in time (historical) and current state analysis
  • Assist with SLA definition, analysis and application performance tuning
  • Partner with development and QA teams to communicate the business rules, data models and ensure test cases target the quality and integrity of the data model
  • Partner with DBAs to transform logical data models into physical database designs while optimizing the performance and maintainability of the physical database
  • Develop solid understanding of the various source data sets and assist in laying out the overall data design solutions
  • Coordinate data models, data dictionaries, and other database documentation across multiple applications
  • Participate and/or lead Data Lake vision and strategy
  • Engage and build strong working relationships with IT, Business and Sourcing partners

  • EDUCATION:

    Bachelors Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred

    EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 8 12 years related experience; or a Masters degree with 6 years experience; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Analyst, Data Warehouse Architect or similar role
  • experience in designing and building, scalable,enterprise-level architecture
  • experience inlogical modellingand physical databases
  • experience in developing strategy fordata quality maintenance
  • experience preparingtechnical documentationand preparation ofarchitectural guidance
  • experience in strategy recommendation for data use (predictive/analytical/transactional).
  • experience in developingarchitectural framework for information security
  • expertise inData Modeling for transactional system, enterprise data warehouse, and dimensional data mart
  • Very good communication (written / oral) and presentation ability.
  • Very good SQL authoring mostly Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing practices, structures and techniques
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles, gathering and analyzing system requirements, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Expertise with ETL processes, development, data management, data flows, data relationships, and data quality standards and processes
  • experience evaluating business rules and provide recommendation for changes
  • Advanced skills in ER design, dimensional design, canonical design, object design, UML
  • Experience with a data modeling tool (ErWin, Er/Studio)
  • Experience in Data analysis and mapping, creation and usage of metadata
  • Ability to evaluate DDL for completeness and accuracy before submission to a DBA
  • Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server databases and writing SQLs
  • Experience in delivering solutions using Agile and Iterative methodology
  • Experience with metadata management discipline and practices
  • Strong analysis and deep problem solving skills. Must be a self-motivated driver to find out data issues and resolve them quickly
