The Information Technology Support position is a part-time, student position in the Office of Computer and Information Services at Penn State York. Successful applicants will be assigned into one of two roles. Helpdesk Consultants require no experience and are expected to provide excellent customer service to assist students, faculty, and staff with technical problems at the Helpdesk. Typical job expectations include printing ID cards, assisting with setting up Wi-Fi and email on personal devices, answering basic questions regarding Penn State IT services, and offering basic tech support in person and over the phone. Helpdesk process and Service-Now training will be provided. Consultants are expected to be available to work 8-12 hours a week. Applicants with advanced qualifications may be placed in a Technician role and be required to apply previous knowledge to solve technical issues presented by faculty, staff, and students. Typical job expectations include re-imaging computers, setting up events, and providing in-office support for faculty and staff. Technicians will be required to use Service-now to document all work done to fix technical issues. Training on Helpdesk processes and Service-Now will be provided. Technicians are expected to be available to work 18-24 hours a week in large blocks of time. Students majoring in Information Science and Technology (IST) and other technology related majors are highly encouraged to apply, but this is not a requirement; students in all majors are welcome and encouraged to apply.
