Finance Chief Data Office is a newly formed team to establish the datagovernance framework across Finance. Theteam partners with the Data Strategy and Digital groups to execute the datadisciplines. We supports data consumers to drive data quality across Financefunctions, including accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, CFO teamsand corporate treasury. We aim to provide transparency of our data asset andactively manage the asset to contribute to the fulfilment of regulatoryrequirements and creation of operational efficiency. The CDO function plays a critical role in thetransformation of the organization by connecting data, technology, processesand controls.
The Business and Data Architect plays a key rolein structuring the Finance in terms of its governance structure, transformation,and data management. This person aligns strategic goals and objectives with keyFinance processes and IT initiatives. The primary focus is the businessanalysis frameworks, data governance/ data management framework, technical datamodeling framework, Finance operations and related networks that link theseaspects together. The Business Architect works to develop an integrated view acrossFinance using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industrystandard techniques.
This is a critical role in translating businessneeds into the information required to deliver solutions. The role will be akey leader across multiple projects working with Technical Data Architects inunderstanding architectural directions, gathering and analyzing businessrequirements, and developing the appropriate data structures. In addition, therole will have significant influence in Finance Data as a Service initiatives. Inthe long term, this position will play a key role in the transition fromtraditional reporting to a more dynamic, real-time analytics environmentensuring a foundation to deliver information to internal consumers at alllevels in the organization.
This staff position is expected to work withlarge amount of information (structured and unstructured), interact withvarious stakeholders (technical and non-technical) in order to come up with theFinance level data model:
Define (with the support from DataChampions across Finance) the types of metadata that will be captured andshared, including business, technical, and operational metadata that impactsFinance
Works closely with technicalarchitects to deliver business architecture artifacts needed for Finance datamodel, Issue Inventory, Deliverable/reporting inventory, Data transformationinventory, and other identified data assets.
Consult, facilitate understandingand translate data requirements into logical, physical and semantic layermodels across the analytical data environment
Ensure data structures are designedfor flexibility to support future business needs
Profile and analyze source systemdata to determine data relationships, design constructs, consistency andquality.
Enable and guide analytics usercommunity in the understanding, location and selection of appropriate datasources to achieve key business goals
Ensure that data designs followarchitectural best practices and appropriate business rules
Be an advocate for best practiceswhile balancing business value and reasonable practicality
Create and maintain critical datadocumentation and metadata that allows data to be understood and leveraged as ashared asset.
Analyze and evaluate data definitionand modeling environment providing key recommendations for improvement. Assistin defining data modeling standards, and foundational best practices
Identify gaps and opportunities withregard to data governance and data ownership, and provide recommendations forimprovements incorporating best practices
Facilitate understanding of highquality data management discipline throughout the corporation
Automate repeatable process formaintaining the Finance Data model
Advocate and drive adoption of bestpractices to ensure standardization of business architecture outputs across Finance
The staff member will be expected to cultivaterelationships with staff or contractors in: Technology, Data Strategy, DataOperations, Finance and Corporate Treasury to ensure efficient identification,collection, and use of data along with the management of the associated datagovernances processes.
Bachelors degree or the equivalent combinationof education and experience is required.
Degree in math, engineering, statistics,computational finance or economics preferred.
Work toward or completion of MBA, CFA, or CPA/CApreferred.
7-10 years of total work experience preferred.
Experience with finance data set and process:Balance Sheet, P&L, Consolidations, Client Product Profitability, liquidityanalytics and reporting, interest rate risk management, asset-liabilitymanagement, regulatory reporting, is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of the structuring of dataenvironments and applications that use big data processes is a preferred.
Some experience with Business Intelligence datamanagement and visualization applications specific to Hadoop big data and theability to use SQL/Hive and other computer languages used in big data foranalysis and structuring is preferred.
Competency with some leading data profilingtools (such as SQL, BI tools, etc.)
Experience in Data Analysis, Data Architectureand/or Data Warehousing; preferably in a shared or enterprise data environment
